Crack Filling

Crack Filling

Crack filling is a cost-effective way of taking care of your commercial or residential asphalt. Maintaining your asphalt prolongs its life. Crack filling treats the problem so you do not have to get your asphalt replaced or resurfaced.

Why Crack Fill?

The asphalt in parking lots and driveways naturally expands when temperatures rise during the day and then relaxes as the asphalt cools in the evening. Winter and the frost in the ground also contribute to your asphalt moving which causes cracks to open and close.

Cracks left unsealed in asphalt allow water to penetrate to the sub-base. This weakens the pavement structure & leads to failures in both the pavement & the base beneath it. Crack filling keeps dirt and vegetation which causes further damage to asphalt out of the cracks. Once this occurs only extensive & costly repairs can fix the problem. By fixing cracks, you prevent the development of potholes and other issues from arising.

For commercial asphalt we offer crack routing for new unfilled cracks. Crack routing is done by routing approximately 1" to 1¾" wide by ¾" deep. This process removes material from each side of the crack to remove deteriorated asphalt and enable good bonding of the sealant to the asphalt that is still in good working condition. Once completed, hot crack fill is used.
